To the 21% of Westbury homeowners who showed up for Tuesday night’s Police and Community Together meeting, THANK YOU. The information we learned was invaluable and will be very helpful as we work together for a safer Westbury.

To the 79% of you who did not attend, it was EMBARASSING and a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT for your volunteer Board of Directors who explained to both the Major and Sergeant of City of Johns Creek Police Department, that we flyered each individual mailbox, emailed you TWICE, posted the meeting on the Westbury website and twitter, and posted the meeting on the exit board for over 3 weeks days prior to the meeting.

Many of you complain to us when thefts occur in Westbury that we are not doing enough. Then when we put together such an important meeting, you fail to give us 60 minutes of your time.


** Pool Party Saturday August 21
End of summer pool party is scheduled for Saturday August 21, 2010 from 5-7pm. The raindate is the following Sunday at 5pm. Pizza and drinks will be provided.

** Bus Dropoff Pickup Procedures
2010 bus dropoff/pickup procedures are published and will be flyered to every mailbox in Westbury prior to school starting. Violators will be fined $50 without warning which are designed by Westbury parents to keep Westbury children safe, and to insure those leaving for work in the morning can do so unimpeded. That means..

For Elementary school, do NOT park on the east (pool side) of Sheringham.

For Middle and High school, do not park or dropoff in front of or around the guard house as this disrupts those leaving for work.

** Solicitors in Westbury
Many of you have asked us about what is and is not legal with regards to solicitors in Westbury.

Although we have a “no soliciting” sign at the front of the subdivision, it cannot be legally enforced unless the solicitor does not have a city issued identification card showing they have completed the necessary paperwork to solicit door to door. If a solicitor cannot show city issued ID, the Police ask that you immediately call 911 so the solicitor can be checked out (some may be working for/are criminals).

People who are knocking on doors to share religious comments and brochures is not illegal and is protected by freedom of speech laws. If they are not selling anything, there is not much we can do about them. Be courteous if you send them on their way.

Always call 911 if you see suspicious behavior.
