** July 4th Parade This Saturday Morning
Have your kids (young and old) decorate their favorite wagon/scooter/bike in red white and blue and then join us for Westbury's very own July 4th Parade this Saturday morning at 10am! We will meet at the pool parking lot at 10am and then parade down Sheringham Lane and back up to the pool. The kids will then be treated to ice pops after the parade. For more information contact Gretchen Williams at 678 994 4982.
** New Arc Members
Please welcome new Architectural Review Committee (ARC) members: Clay Parks, Joann Miles, and Patti Sadler.
The ARC is run by Westbury homeowners in accordance with the Declaration of Covenants to maintain the Community Wide Standard. The ARC enforces published guidelines insuring Westbury is a beautiful place to live while ensuring maximum property values are maintained throughout the community.
One of the best ways to insure compliance and no problems with your home is to stay directly in touch with your street's ARC representative. ARC reps are not only enforcement agents but they will answer your questions and help you through exterior change application processes.
Find your ARC rep here: http://westburyhoa.org/arc-blockreps.html. The exterior modification application form is always available at :
http://westburyhoa.org/arc_application.pdf.
** Underage Drinking
We have received a handful of reports concerning underage drinking on streets in Westbury. While we appreciate your contacting the association with these reports, the association lacks the legal jurisdiction to enforce local laws. If you witness underage drinking or underage loitering after dusk, please immediately contact the City of Johns Creek Police Department at 404-730-7109. The City of Johns Creek Police Department is best equipped to deal with this issue. They want to know about these reports so they can be recorded and followed up in the future. Please contact the City of Johns Creek Police at any time that you witness underage drinking or loitering after hours.
** Upcoming Social Events
Mark your calendars - save the date for these upcoming social events!
Friday, August 7th - Pizza & wings by the pool. This is our "back to school" party. It will start at 6:00 PM and we will also be serving soft drinks and snacks.
Saturday, August 15th - Adult night by the pool at 7:00 PM. We will either be serving Mexican food from the same restaurant that we have used for the last two years, or possibly we will have Adobo cater it for us this year. We will have a margarita machine and desserts. Price will be announced on a flyer in July.
Saturday, September 12th - Westbury Couples night out! It will be at 7:00 PM. The restaurant will be determined at a later date.
Saturday, October 31st - Westbury Halloween Party...on Halloween! It will begin at 12:00 PM at the pool parking lot. We will have sub sandwiches, chips, soft drinks, cookie decorating, inflatables, spin art, pass the pumpkin and best dressed/scariest costume contest.
We need volunteers to help with these upcoming events. We also need someone to host the Westbury Cookie Exchange this year. If you would like to help with any of these events please contact Tammy Adler at (678) 624-9311 or thadler@comcast.net.
** Unattended Children at Pool
We have received some reports of unattended children at the pool. Please be reminded that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 16 or older when the lifeguard is not present. A lifeguard is provided on weekends from 12pm-6pm.
Unattended children will be asked to leave the pool for their safety. Thank you for your understanding.
** Parking Reminders
Please be reminded of these parking policies within Westbury:
No overnight parking on the streets. Vehicles must be parked in your driveway or in your garage.
No parking in front of the poolhouse. When you park in front of the poolhouse, the next person using the pool thinks its ok to park on the street and then we have too many cars on the street causing a safety issue for everyone. We have a parking lot at the pool which should be utilized anytime you need to park at the pool or tennis courts. Thank you for your cooperation.
** Construction Hours
Some of you are allowing construction crews to work past sunset causing noise complaints. Please advise contractors that Westbury has a strict sunup/sundown policy. Construction can only occur during sunlight hours. Homeowners in violation will be subject to a $50 fine per day per incident.
Please remember all exterior construction including roof replacements and shingle upgrades must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee. If you proceed with work without approval, and if a change in color is rejected, you could incur significant expense to remedy the situation. It has happened before here in Westbury and we want to avoid this at all costs so please make sure any exterior modifications are approved by the ARC. The application form is available at :
http://westburyhoa.org/arc_application.pdf.
** Water Use Restrictions Eased
Fulton County residents can take advantage of outdoor water use three days a week on an odd and even-numbered schedule. In accordance with an order from Georgia's Environmental Protection Division, outdoor water use is now on a "non-drought" schedule. Citizens may water three days a week with odd-numbered addresses allowed to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and even-numbered addresses permitted to water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Outdoor water use may occur at any time of the day on the assigned days; however, landscape watering is discouraged between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. because of the limited effectiveness of watering during those hours.
Relaxing of the water use restrictions is a result of significant rainfall and an improved water supply. However, residents are urged to continue to conserve water to ensure greater long-term water use efficiency.

** Speeding in Westbury
Speeding is an ongoing problem in Westbury.
Please remind your invited guests and vendors of the speed limit[ (25 mph).
Thank you for slowing down!
** Directory Help Needed
We need some help in auditing Westbury's directory. This requires volunteers making calls and verifying directory information. If you would like to help make these calls please contact Westbury President Joel Lesser at board@westburyhoa.org.
That's all for this update.. Mark your calendar now for the upcoming social events, hope to see you at our July 4th Parade this Saturday! If you need anything, contact us via board@westburyhoa.org.
