Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is made up of 5 Westbury
homeowners who are 18 years of age or older. Each director must reside in
the community and be a member or the spouse be a member. The BOD abides by
the association's Bylaws in maintaining the
association. The Bylaws were recently amended in 2001 to facilitate
staggered terms.
In accordance with the Bylaws, terms are
staggered 2/3 every 2 years. Terms are
staggered so that every year (around October), 2 or 3 of the 5 directors seats become
available to open nominations. Example: in 2003 we elected 2
directors, in 2004 we elect 3. In 2005 we elected 3 (2 plus one vacancy). Staggered
terms assures the association that at least 2 experienced members of the board
will always be in office. This is typical in associations with 150 homes
or less. Westbury's bylaws do allow successive terms, and this is also
typical in associations with 150 homes or less.
Directors
shall hold office for the term for which he or she was elected and until his or
her successor is elected and qualified or until his or her earlier resignation,
death, or removal. A plurality vote
of the Members shall be sufficient to elect a director.
